How To Find A Surrogate Mother To Carry Your Child


If you cannot have children of your own, you may decide to go the route of surrogacy. This is an option for people who are unable to have children themselves but don't want to adopt. They want the child to have a genetic link to one or both parents. Called gestational surrogacy, this is a way for a surrogate to carry a child without contributing any of her own genetic material. The first step is to find a surrogate that is suited to your particular needs.

One way to locate surrogates is to go through an agency who matches them with people who want to be parents. This is a much better way than placing a surrogate wanted ad, however don't count that method out, either. It isn't always necessary to use an agency, especially if the surrogate ends up being someone you find through an ad or a close friend or relative. However if you don't use an agency you are going to need an attorney skilled in surrogacy contracts. To protect the interests of all parties a legally binding contract is a must have. This contract must be created by a lawyer who works in this particular family law area.

For those who decide to go through an agency, the process is easier. Once you've been approved with the agency on a financial basis and successfully completed the screening process (which differs from agency to agency) you will be matched with a surrogate who is ready to carry your child. You may decide to meet the surrogate and build a relationship with them, or you may decide to remain completely anonymous. This should be specified in your contract. The agency will take you through each step of the process and answer any questions that arise.

By far, the best way to find a surrogate is by using an agency that is legitimate and reputable. It's not the only way, but for parents-to-be who don't have anyone close to serve as a surrogate it is much easier than placing a surrogate wanted ad and screening each candidate yourself, not to mention all the legalities that would need to be handled. It helps to compare different agencies to see who has the best prices and the best policies regarding surrogate parenting.
